Selling camera equipment: frequently asked questions

Analog Lounge GmbH · Selling your equipment

How do you sell your camera equipment?

Send us photos of your collection, inherited equipment or complete camera kit. Here you’ll find answers about assessments, shipping, collection and agreeing on payment before you sell.

What photography equipment does Analog Lounge buy?

We consider film and digital camera equipment, lens collections, cine equipment, inherited collections and larger quantities of optical equipment. Whether we can buy them depends on the models, condition and what’s included. We can’t promise to buy every item.

Do you buy individual cameras or whole collections?

We mainly buy collections, inherited equipment, mixed lots and complete camera kits. We don’t usually buy individual items on their own, so please show us all the equipment, including lenses and accessories.

What photos should I send?

Start with a few clear photos of the cameras, lenses and accessories. Photograph larger collections in separate groups. Include readable model names and any known damage. We’ll ask for more detail if needed.

Do I need to identify and test everything?

No. You don’t need to identify or test the equipment before contacting us. Tell us which functions are untested. You’re welcome to include existing lists, service records and any information about when the equipment was last used.

Can I include faulty or untested equipment?

Yes, you can include them in the equipment you’re offering. Describe any known faults and clearly mark untested items as untested. Whether we can buy them depends on the collection as a whole.

Are the assessment and offer always free, and am I obliged to sell?

The assessment based on your photos or list and any offer are always free of charge. You have no obligation to sell. We’ll then agree with you which items any offer covers and the terms of the sale.

How do you calculate your offer?

Our offer takes account of the models, versions, described condition, accessories and everything included in the sale. It also reflects the work involved in checking and reselling the equipment, along with the commercial risks. An old catalogue valuation or an individual asking price does not establish what we can pay.

How does selling to a dealer differ from selling privately?

A dealer offers a price for the equipment agreed on. If you sell privately, you handle the descriptions, negotiations and sales yourself. Individual sales may achieve higher prices, but current listings and catalogue values don’t guarantee those results.

How are shipping and shipping costs arranged?

Please don’t send anything until we have expressly agreed the arrangements. Free DHL shipping within the EU may be available once we agree on a sale. We’ll confirm packing, shipping and costs for your particular equipment beforehand.

When is collection possible?

For larger collections, we consider collection according to the quantity, value, location and transport involved. Send photos and the postcode first, along with details of boxes, cases and access. We’ll confirm a collection date only after agreeing the arrangements.

When and how will I be paid?

We agree on the payment method, timing and any fees before dispatch or handover. Payment by bank transfer via IBAN is possible; in certain cases, cash payment can be arranged for a personal handover. Confirm payment details, shipping costs and insurance with us before dispatch. The terms of your individual offer apply.

What if the equipment differs from the description?

Where possible, tell us about changes, missing parts or newly discovered faults before handover. We’ll need to discuss any differences in light of the agreed offer. Possible returns and their costs should be discussed before dispatch.

Can I sell from Germany, elsewhere in the EU or Switzerland?

Yes. We handle enquiries from Germany, across the European Union and from Switzerland. Shipping or handover is agreed in advance. For Switzerland, we discuss the necessary shipping documents and responsibilities separately; EU shipping arrangements do not automatically apply.

Can I visit in person?

In-person handovers are strictly by prior arrangement. Our business address in Parthenstein is not open to walk-in visitors. You don’t need to travel to us for an initial assessment.

Can I keep mementos from an inherited collection?

Yes. Mark the items you want to keep in your photos or list them in your message. Our offer covers only the equipment we agree on together.

How can I contact you, and when will you reply?

Email your enquiry to enquiry@analog-lounge.net or send it via WhatsApp to +49 177 6929695. You can message us at any time. How soon we reply depends on the size of the enquiry and any further details we need; we don’t offer an instant, round-the-clock response.
