Sell inherited cameras and photography equipment

Inherited camera equipment? Start with a few photos.

You don’t need to identify inherited cameras and lenses yourself. A few photos will show us what you have. We’ll help make sense of the equipment and see whether we can buy it together.

Getting started

How it works

Inherited photography equipment may be spread across cupboards, cases and boxes. Take your time getting an overview and keep matching pieces together. You decide which items to keep as mementos and which equipment you’d like to sell.

01

Take your time looking through it

Begin by photographing the equipment as you find it. Don’t unscrew camera bodies or throw away small parts you can’t identify. Labels on bags can also help us work out what belongs together.

02

Set aside what you want to keep

Set aside personal photographs, documents and anything the family wants to keep. Let us know which items you’re excluding from the sale.

03

Plan the handover with us

After the initial assessment, we’ll clarify any questions about what’s included and its condition. If we agree on a sale, we’ll discuss shipping or an in-person handover. Collection may be possible for larger quantities, by prior arrangement.

What should you record when sorting inherited cameras?

Start by recording what’s there and what you want to sell. You don’t need technical knowledge: clear photos and readable model names are enough for the first enquiry.

Items you want to keep

Mark any cameras or personal papers you wish to keep. Check for private photographs and films before handing over the equipment.

Keep related items together

Keep equipment, accessories and service records together where possible. Photograph unfamiliar parts separately rather than discarding them.

Location and timing

Tell us where the equipment is and whether it needs to be cleared by a particular date. If several people are involved, agree beforehand which items are being offered for sale.

Condition and preparation

No specialist knowledge needed

You don’t need to know terms such as bayonet mount, film magazine or waist-level finder. Instead, photograph readable markings and show the equipment from several angles. If a camera might still contain film, please don’t open its back. There’s no need to test the equipment before making your first enquiry.

Questions about inherited camera equipment

Can I get in touch if I don’t know the models or condition?

Yes. Simply explain that the equipment was inherited and hasn’t been tested. Photos are enough for an initial assessment.

Can I keep some items as mementos?

Yes. Mark them in your photos or list them in your message. Our offer will cover only the items we agree on together.

Should I have the cameras cleaned or repaired first?

There’s no need for our initial assessment. Please avoid trying to clean glass surfaces, shutters or delicate mechanical parts yourself.

Your next step

Show us your equipment.

Send us photos of your collection, inherited equipment or complete camera kit. A few clear pictures and a note about the condition are enough to get started.
