Sell Contax cameras and Zeiss lenses

Analog Lounge · Camera collections and equipment

Identify your Contax equipment and sell it together.

We consider Contax collections, inherited equipment and complete kits from Germany, across the EU and Switzerland. Contax cameras, Zeiss lenses and accessories span very different systems. Show us the whole collection so we can identify the bodies, mounts and matching lenses together.

Systems and equipment

What equipment can you sell?

The Contax name does not describe a single camera system. Historic rangefinders, later SLRs, G cameras and medium-format equipment belong to different systems. Exact camera and lens markings are therefore particularly useful.

01

SLRs and C/Y

Kits may include cameras such as the RTS, 139, 167 or S2 with Carl Zeiss lenses. Please also show the backs of the lenses, motor drives and viewfinder accessories.

02

G and T cameras

Photograph the exact model names on Contax G1, G2 and T-series cameras. For electronic cameras, known functional problems and the condition of the battery compartment are useful details.

03

Contax 645 and older systems

For a Contax 645 kit, include lenses, magazines and viewfinders in the overview. Older Contax rangefinders can also be included in your collection enquiry.

What we need to assess your equipment

What details matter for Contax equipment?

With Contax, identifying the system is more useful than a broad brand description. Show bodies and lenses with readable model names and clear views of the mounts.

01

Identifying the system

Photograph each camera’s model name and the rear of each lens. You don’t need to test whether an assumed combination is compatible.

02

Electronic functions

Mention known display, film-transport or shutter-release faults, and show any battery-compartment damage in detail.

03

Lenses and accessories

Record Zeiss markings, viewfinders, flash units and adapters. Keep complete sets together in your photos.

You don’t need to carry out repairs or full functional tests before getting in touch. Describe known faults and mark untested items clearly. Answers about assessments, shipping and payment.

Condition and preparation

A lens name alone doesn’t identify the version

Names such as Planar and Sonnar appear on different lenses. We also need the focal length, maximum aperture and mount. Photograph the markings without taking the lens apart. Include adapters and caps that have been kept with it.

How it works

From your first enquiry to handover

01 · SHOW US

Send photos

Send photos showing the equipment. Mention known faults and, for larger collections, where it is located.

02 · AGREE

Discuss the offer

We’ll clarify any missing details and assess the equipment as a whole. You then decide whether the offer works for you.

03 · HAND OVER

Agree the arrangements

We agree on shipping or an in-person handover and payment in advance. For large collections, we can discuss possible collection.

Good to know

Questions about selling Contax equipment

Can I offer different Contax systems together?

Yes. Photograph the collection and its markings. You don’t need to sort it by system beforehand.

Is ‘Carl Zeiss Planar’ enough information?

It’s enough for a first enquiry, but not to identify the exact version. Focal length, maximum aperture and mount distinguish the variants.

Do you exclude electronic cameras that don’t work?

Not automatically. Describe the fault or mark the condition as untested. We assess the equipment as part of the whole collection.

How do you work out an offer?

We consider the exact versions, described condition, completeness and all the equipment included. We therefore can’t promise a price based on a brand name alone.

How is the equipment handed over?

Once we agree on a sale, we arrange shipping or an in-person handover. For larger quantities, we can discuss collection if needed. Please contact us before sending any equipment.

Your next step

Show us your equipment.

Send us photos of your collection, inherited equipment or complete camera kit. A few clear pictures and a note about the condition are enough to get started.
