Sell M42 screw-mount lenses and collections

Analog Lounge · Camera collections and equipment

Sell M42 lenses from different manufacturers together.

Analog Lounge GmbH considers M42 lens collections from private collections, estates and complete inventories for purchase across Germany, the EU and Switzerland. If you have a collection of vintage screw-mount lenses or an M42 kit, send us overview photos and clear images of the markings. We assess the whole collection you wish to sell.

Systems and equipment

What equipment can you sell?

M42 is a lens mount, not a brand, so a collection may contain lenses from several manufacturers. Show the actual mount and include the full markings on each lens wherever possible.

01

Takumar and Pentax

You can offer M42 screw-mount Takumar lenses with matching cameras and accessories. Not every Pentax lens uses M42, so a photo of the mount is helpful.

02

Zeiss Jena and Pentacon

M42 versions of Carl Zeiss Jena and Pentacon lenses may also be included. The lens name alone does not establish the mount, as different versions can exist.

03

Other screw-mount lenses

Include lenses from other manufacturers and any unidentified items. Focal length, maximum aperture, front markings and a view of the rear are more useful than a guess about compatibility.

What we need to assess your equipment

What details do we need about an M42 lens collection?

M42 identifies a mount rather than a brand. For an offer, we also need the manufacturer, lens name, full markings and photos of the mount.

01

Manufacturer and model

Make the front markings on every lens legible. Similar-looking barrels are not enough for reliable identification.

02

Mount and controls

Show the thread, any switches and any adapters. There is no need to modify or dismantle anything.

03

Optical condition

Mention known haze, scratches or stiff rings. Describe untested lenses as untested.

You don’t need to carry out repairs or full functional tests before getting in touch. Describe known faults and mark untested items clearly. Answers about assessments, shipping and payment.

Condition and preparation

Not every threaded mount is M42

Screw-mount lenses do not all share the same camera mount. A fitted adapter may also conceal the original mount. Please do not force anything on or off. Show aperture pins, switches and adapters in your photos. Describe any known stiffness, unusual aperture-blade condition or visible changes in the glass.

How it works

From your first enquiry to handover

01 · SHOW US

Send photos

Send photos showing the equipment. Mention known faults and, for larger collections, where it is located.

02 · AGREE

Discuss the offer

We’ll clarify any missing details and assess the equipment as a whole. You then decide whether the offer works for you.

03 · HAND OVER

We agree on shipping or an in-person handover and payment in advance. For large collections, we can discuss possible collection.

Good to know

M42 lenses: frequently asked questions

Is M42 a lens manufacturer?

No. Here, M42 refers to a camera system’s screw mount. Lenses from different manufacturers can use that mount.

Are all Takumar or Zeiss lenses M42?

No. The exact version matters. Please photograph the mount as well as the front markings.

Do I need to test the lenses on a digital camera?

No. You do not need to buy adapters or carry out camera tests for our initial assessment. Photos and any known condition details are enough to start.

How do you work out an offer?

We consider the exact versions, described condition, completeness and all the equipment included. We therefore can’t promise a price based on a brand name alone.

How is the equipment handed over?

Once we agree on a sale, we arrange shipping or an in-person handover. For larger quantities, we can discuss collection if needed. Please contact us before sending any equipment.

Your next step

Show us your equipment.

Send us photos of your collection, inherited equipment or complete camera kit. A few clear pictures and a note about the condition are enough to get started.
